Listening to: Matchbox 20
“So toss me out and turn in.”

Haha.
So I bought my graduation dress today.
The dress is black, makes me look my age and I don’t look too hideous which is a bonus. And it was on sale. :)
Baaaaaaaaargain!

We went crabbing on Saturday, very excitedly mind you. We carried nets and fishing rods and I supplied the chicken carcasses which is what crabs apparently love. There were these two Asian guys there who had set up like 8 nets when the maximum was 2 nets per person. So subsequently they caught like around 5,000 crabs and cleaned out the ocean while us amateurs caught a grand total of one crab.

Not so bad except the regulations state that you’re only allowed to keep crabs that are over 11 centimetres. Our one saving grace, was 10.5 cm. (To which one of Asian fisherman SMIRKED and said, it’s too small – I swear if I had been taller and better built Smirky Smirkerson would have been eating dirt for breakfast. And I would have stolen his crabs).

Anyhoo, turns out I’m not a very moral person and would have kept the crab on the argument that it would have grown to 11cm within a few days anyway. But I happened to go with a very morally responsible group of people, so we let the Lucky Bugger go.

Since we had resolved to eat seafood by hook or by crook that Saturday, we drove 15 kilometres to a seafood factory off the Semaphore Esplanade only to find out that they weren’t selling crabs because it wasn’t crab season. (Yes, because certain South East Asian fishermen had evidently cleaned us out.)

:x

Refusing to be beaten, we bought squid, shrimp and a barramundi, trooped to Nish’s place and had the best fucking seafood dinner in months.

Oh and I also got sunburnt in the only two areas where I forgot to apply suntan lotion – in the areas between the straps of my top and my t-shirt.

:D

Grads are next week! And I have not packed a single thing.
Eeeek!

  1. I once made a famously stupid remark about sun tan. It was 2 summers ago and me and some friends went out. They were fretting about getting sun burn and I was just standing there, acting cool (can u imagine me acting cool, gawd) and said something like, “oh you know, I don’t bother about suntan lotions. We Malaysians don’t get sun burn, our skins are acclimatised to strong sun exposure”. At the end of the day, it turned out that I got the woese sun burns of the lot. And I was in pain for 2 days after that outing. OUCH!

  2. I second that ouch – OUCH! I hope it didn’t take long for it to heal..
